The Big Bad 37 - woohoo!!!! Really. How lucky am I. I can finally afford to ride my bike, hit the gym, hit the pool, be able to go on epic adventures, fix myself (self-physio), train myself, know how to train others, afford bike parts and rent my tiny basement?!? What a luxrious life I live and how grateful am I to have it. (Minus the pay-more-of-your-student-loans adult linging in the depths of my mind).
But what do I have to lose beside a few paychecks and a good time on bike stuff. After all, it is my only expense since I don't do all the normal girly stuff like makeup and cloths shopping.
Enter the Nightclub Unicorn. As a midlife - post DC crisis - my trusty partner in life, Dylz, rolls in with a top-of-the-line Cervelo just to check it out. A CERVELO. Cervelo is what all the cools kids road on the Humboldt State Road Bike Team. The creme-de-la-creme of road bikes. The best of the best... and now presenting... a gravel bike - the Aspero... in my kitchen/livingroom. Have I made it in life?! But do I deserve it? Can I afford it... in increment maybe!!?
The first ride was instant love. The performance. The handling. The lightness. The geometry. No wonder I was left in the dust at the DC. What a whole new world and leash on life. The distance travelled for rate of preceived exersion was unsettling and SO fun to ride. Getting out on this rig inspired my inner dancing unicorn to dance on the pedals all day long. Just pure magic. And to race it at the local CX races was just so fun (just don't ask me ro run!).
What's next to the year of the big bad 37? Only time will tell... Share goals after execution. Dream. Plan-ish. Work hard. Get a bit lucky... or unlucky. Execute. But most importantly to be in love with process - not the outcome. Life's a poker game and depends on the cards in your hand and how you play. I have a couple good cards now... can I play the game and win?

Alas, Hartz Mountain in Southern Tassie. Quite chilly in July but whatever. I don't need to use my frozen hands because it has... Electric Shifting!! Skeptical at first, however, the ease of pressing a button makes shifting alot easier when you can't feel your fingers and have no dexterity!
The endless rainbow chase solo in the gravel roads of Tassie - Paradise Island as I call it!
Favorite adventure eatery - One Stop in Geeveston. BEST food and hot tea to defrost the fingers!
