What's a better Christmas present then riding a trail everyday for the Trailforks 30 day Challenge in the month of July. Working and school keeps me close to the city, but riding everyday adds some fun to the nitty nit gritty. The challenge just makes you work harder for what you love, like a trail everyday before the sunrise fills the sky above. The days get longer and sun greets you sooner, but I still feel like a wallabi ninja, chasing the sunrise like a early morning bloomer.
It's cold and dark,
a crisp chill fills the air,
the moon is bright at my despair,
I put on my wool socks and thick winter gloves,
it's 5:30 am, time for a ride, I don't run!
The roads are empty, a vast landscape,
street lights, stillness, serenity propogates,
where hussle and bustle and diesel fumes fill the air,
it's a ghosttown during these early morning affairs.
I fly thru the roads,
like a ninja at night,
with nothing more then a few flashy lights,
the stars start to fade as the sun seizes their bright,
and the moon once was there, is drifting from sight.
I launch off onto gravel and who do I see,
the small, little, baby wallabi,
there every morning to greet me and my bike,
he slowly hops off without any such fright.
The large rocks kick my rear to and fro,
I drive with the hips to keeps the rubber side low,
Not holding too tight, no grip of death here,
but just enough to ride my wild hardtail without fear.
It's cold, which means Christmas should arrive soon,
but down unda' it July, December impromptu,
but instead it's my b-day and I have memory relapse,
of good times with friends riding trails, alas .
The sun is lifting, the birds sing their tune,
the traffic filling the streets with their smoggy smog too,
time to head off for my 8 hour day,
there I'll defrost like an popscile, melting away.
Day 30 has arrived! It's time for a beer! It's been a long time since I've ridden my bike wild amounts for a slim chance to win a pair of socks. Feels so great to ride like a wild person again, just have to keep the good times rollin'. Hope you enjoyed my rthymes and it wasn't a complete waste you your time! Cheers! :)
